This is my proposal for a redesigned Bainbridge Island Ferry Terminal. The terminal is located on a 25 acre site in Eagle Harbor, 8 miles across the water from downtown Seattle. It's a beautiful site that I have had the fortune to travel through on my commute on and off for the past seven years. The design is a play off of the Bremerton terminal, where transit and pedestrian traffic is lifted above, on a platform atop earth berm piloti. This separates traffic flows and simultaneously frames the water below and sky above, and most importantly the loading and unloading activity of a busy ferry terminal. I incorporated many of the design skills I had gained from taking interdisciplinary studios at the University of Washington, including landscape architecture and urban planning.
